Yesterday we took a little trip up to Oklahoma City to see Scott and Christy and their crew. Zach turned four (can you believe it?!) and we just had to be there. For some reason I had convinced myself that a.) OKC is only 2 hours away and b.) the kids wouldn't mind doing a day trip, they'd be fine in the car there and back. So yeah, I was wrong on both counts. Apparently, OKC is THREE hours away (mind you, I'm one of the "those people" - as Scott puts it - who drives the speed limit). So I only realize this one hour into the trip when I'm thinking, 'Wow, we're already half way there!" Yeah, not so much. ALSO, the kids did NOT enjoy the time in the car much to my amazement! Miles was actually whining before we left the driveway. Awesome. BUT we did it. And it was totally worth it. Zach and Ty are enourmous and really, really, ridiculously good looking, like their parents. The kids had a great time jumping on the castle thingy and playing like maniacs in the backyard. Christy and Scott own, at least to my calculations, every toy ever sold at Wal-mart. What boy could be happier? We had pizza for lunch and the adults enjoyed grown up conversation while the kids sat outside. After lunch Z opened presents and got some great stuff. Then I did the unthinkable by introducing Christy's sweet, innocent children to guns (or bammers as they are referred to in the OK Kilgore household). Cool, Anna. At least they were water guns, right? Anyway, a good, wet time was had by all. The evening was capped off with some mouth-watering sushi for the adults, three dead fish and a walk.
Maybe if you're lucky you'll get to hear the heart-rending tale of the three dead fish at a later date. I'm still too emotional to discuss it just yet. HA!

Ah yes, it is 3 hours away. I only had to go halfway to OKC though and my trip seemed a lot longer...wonder why? :) I thought it was a nice, scenic drive (of course, it was just me and the Dave Matthews Band in the car!).
Looks like a fun day! And tell Christy I love the red wall in the kitchen!
