This blog will be an official apology to my brother, Jerry, and to the harmless victims (Sara, Taylor, Lydia, Gaby and Owen) who were left in the wake of my nerd comment. You see, Jerry is not a nerd. He wears glasses and really, truly enjoys books about the universe, physics and engineering. He also is part of a men's barbershop group and likes to sing show tunes around the house. But these facts aside, he is not a nerd. One only needs to go back to the early '90's to know just how super-cool Jerry is/was. Strutting around CCHS in his white jeans and penny loafers (or was it deck shoes?), and riding his skateboard on the weekends with Andy Arnold, Jerry personified cool. And I don't need to remind anyone of just who was voted King of Hearts circa 1990...that's right, Jerry L. Kilgore. So, family and friends, if you ever find yourself thinking, "Man, I wish I could talk to someone who is REALLY radical and totally cool," I would recommend you call Jerry.

White jeans, yes, deck shoes, no. I remember him wearing black Diadora soccer shoes all the time.

Hmmm...well, I was 10 years old in 1990...I apparently wasn't paying enough attention to the footwear.

WHATEVER! If Jerry's going to keep on wearing that huge beach hat then he most certainly is a nerd! I can understand that a balding man needs protection but, come on!

Jeez, this nerd comment is getting way more attention than Bird's faux hawk and gauges! What's up with that?!?

From Wikipedia: Nerd, as a stereotypical or archetypal designation, refers to somebody who passionately pursues intellectual or esoteric knowledge or pastimes, rather than engaging in a social life, participating in organized sports, or other mainstream activities. The Merriam-Webster definition is an "unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits."

While Jerry passionately pursues "intellectual or esoteric knowledge," he most certainly engages in a social life AND participates in organized sports. Ironman Triathlon - HELLO!

Further from Wikipedia - A Renaissance man, also known as a polymath is a person who excels in multiple fields. This appears to be a much better way to describe you multi-talented brother.

Agreed. Jerry is a polymath. That word is way cooler anyway.

Sara's a suck-up. Jerry's a nerd. Now, if he still had his hair? Nah, he'd still be a nerd!
Love ya, Bro!!!

Did Chrysta really just make fun of Jerry for being a nerd?
